Our Team
Barnali Roy, Founder
Barnali is the founder, curator, designer, model, entrepreneur, & chief mastermind behind the enterprise that is yarrnsbybarnali. A CMA by profession & Rabindrasangeet singer by training, Barnali hails from Kolkata and wears every hat imaginable as the namesake behind the brand. yarrnsbybarnali is her dreamchild, having come to fruition after nearly eleven years of a lively social media presence which began with a simple Facebook Page. Pursuing an untended ambition she had harboured for years, Barnali's love for exquisite handloom weaves and the fine arts culminated in the conception of this enterprise, which she tends to as lovingly as she does her blooming garden of hibiscus and jade plants. Having balanced living across seven cities in two countries, being a wife, a mother, a sister, a daughter, and a daughter-in-law, all while nurturing the bud of yarrnsbybarnali, Barnali is now based out of Bangalore, from where she runs the enterprise full-time.
Dipanjali Roy
Dipanjali is a poet, artist, and editor. Her work has been the recipient of awards such as the Queen Mary Wasafiri New Writing Prize for Poetry, among others, and been featured in publications such as The Yearbook of Indian Poetry in English. Most of Dipanjali's work with yarrnsbybarnali involves burrowing deep inside some form of textual tunnel ~ be it on saree history, weaving processes, or archival relics. She is responsible for creative editing on yarrnsbybarnali, the development of its website, minor design process inputs, many a collection ideation, and infinite content-management miscellany. In her free time, she enjoys watching anime, drinking coffee, and curating hyperspecific mixtapes.
Amith Gore, Photographer
Amith is a professional photographer and videographer from Bangalore, Karnataka. Having begun this journey nearly seven years ago, his current work involves exploring the visual cornucopia of food photography. Amith's artistic practice with yarrnsbybarnali is rooted in envisioning each collection as a new character for portraiture, and also a terrifying degree of detail in colour correction. He works primarily with small businesses, brands, and bloggers. Outside of work, he enjoys travel and badminton.
Krithika Sivakumar, Photographer
Krithika has been creating film & photo narratives for over a decade, based primarily out of Bangalore. Her practice is based on a harmonious synergy she describes as being "all about the head, heart, and hands." Working with designers such as Gaurav Gupta, Rahul Mishra, Amit Aggarwal, and JJ Valaya, her editorial work has been featured in spaces such as ELLE India, among others. For yarrnsbybarnali, Krithika's photography has been the bedrock of our social media presence for many years ~ her creative process seeks to capture the most essential textural pleasures of the saree for the viewer's eye, from the glinting metal of fardi ka kaam to the slightly coarse fibre of a handwoven cotton, her photographs seek to produce a synaesthesia of sight and touch. In her extremely limited free time balancing life as a new mom, she enjoys painting and singing.
Sajith Augustine, Photographer
Hailing from Kerala and based in Bangalore since 1998, Sajith Augustine is a software engineer and professional photographer. With a keen eye for colour and light, his work with yarrsnbybarnali focusses on showcasing the infinite vibrancy that is offered up by each new palette and weave, celebrating the unique forms and lines created by the drape of each saree. Happily married with two children, Sajith also enjoys music ~ both, his singing and his carefully chosen vibes playlist for each photoshoot, are crowd favourites.
Sandra Teddy, Model
Sandra Teddy is a business development professional and stylist hailing from Kerala and based out of Bangalore. With a graduate degree in Textile and Apparel Design from the Kerala State Institute of Design, she has a particular penchant connecting with people ~ be it through her work in customer relations or through the lens as a model. In her free time, Sandra enjoys travelling and embroidery.
Mekha Pius, Model
Hailing from Kerala and based in Bangalore for the past decade, Mekha is a dedicated business analyst and proud mom to a lively three-year-old. Balancing professional life with motherhood, she has always had a passion for modelling, which is the truest expression of her love for fashion. Outside of work, she is an avid reader and a dancer.
Priyanka Banerjee, Model
Born and brought up in Kolkata, Priyanka is a philosophy graduate, mother, dander, and elementary school teacher. With her teaching experience spanning nearly a decade, Priyanka is also an enthusiastic foodie who runs her own cloud kitchen.
